How many sessions will I need?
 
You can make huge improvements that bring positive benefits to the rest of your life simply through one single session, especially if you take the time to listen to your CD (provided) to support and maintain your progress, until you can benefit from the techniques without it.
 
It is important to recognise that every individual experiences hypnosis and therapy in their very own personal way and some people will require more sessions than others to address a similar issue.   It is therefore difficult to know how an individual will respond before therapy takes place and for me to know exactly how many sessions you will need. 
 
 
One Session... two Sessions????
 
Many issues can be improved with just one session of hypnotherapy.  You may be surprised how much improvement you have made.  Many clients book one session only, which allows for approximately one hour psychotherapy and discussion, plus one hour to include hypnotherapy or other relevant therapy.  This is currently working very well and is the most beneficial process for many of my clients.
 
Some clients find that they have some residual issues that remain or that evolve from the initial work and would like to work on those during a second session. 
 
Some clients find that they need to use the whole of the first session to talk about issues that they would like to discuss; this discussion will incorporate psychotherapy and other salient issues may become unearthed.  At least one further session will therefore be necessary to incorporate treatment.  This doesn't happen very often.
 
As stated, some issues can be addressed using different methods of therapy (for exampole EMDR) both in and out of the hypnotic state.  It may take two sessions to successfully implement all components of this therapy.
 
Some people may feel that, having enjoyed their first session and now knowing what to expect, they would like to experience a second session where they may be able to relax more deeply, reaching a deeper level of hypnosis and bringing about a more rounded improvement.
 
 
More Sessions...
 
Some issues get best results if a series of sessions are undertaken, for example, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).  Having been trained by Michael Mahoney, the leading British hypnotherapist for IBS who works in Manchester, the therapy I use for IBS is the same and takes 6 sessions. 
 
With regards toweight loss, I am finding that it is often very useful to tackle underlying issues such as self-dislike, lack of confidence, etc. using EMDR to create a solid foundation on which to build the weight loss therapy.  For example, if you dislike yourself and you eat to make yourself feel better, then it is best to tackle the self-dislike head on - this is an underlying part of the eating problem.  Please see Weight Loss.
